Trump said that China is “eating the Tariffs“ by devaluing its currency and pouring money into their system, and that the delay was not done to spare the American consumer. (The day before, he said he was sparing American consumers in case prices would rise before Christmas.)
“The American consumer is fine with or without the September date, but much good will come from the short deferral to December. It actually helps China more than us, but will be reciprocated. Millions of jobs are being lost in China to other non-Tariffed countries. Thousands of companies are leaving,” he wrote. “Of course China wants to make a deal. Let them work humanely with Hong Kong first!”
Later, he wrote that “Our Great Farmers” will be the big winners on trade.
Still later, he wrote, “The Fake News Media is doing everything they can to crash the economy because they think that will be bad for me and my re-election. The problem they have is that the economy is way too strong and we will soon be winning big on Trade, and everyone knows that, including China!”
And then he retweeted a comment from the girlfriend of one of his sons. She said that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden “loves China, and has been a big softy when it comes to holding them accountable.” Trump added: “Biden doesn’t have a clue! I will solve the China problem.”
