Section 301 tariff exclusions

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has established an exclusion process for Section 301 tariffs on China. In a series of rounds since the tariffs took effect, importers have been able to request exclusions from the tariffs, as well as extensions to existing exclusions. Many exclusions have been allowed to expire, as well. Section 301 exclusions are applicable to all importers of a given good, which may be defined as an entire tariff schedule subheading or a subset of a subheading outlined in a written description.

Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Japan Glycine: Prelim Results of AD Admin Review

The Commerce Department has released the preliminary results of its antidumping duty administrative review on glycine from Japan (A-588-878). The agency preliminarily found that two companies under review -- Yuki Gosei Kogyo Co., Ltd. and its affiliate Nagase & Co., Ltd., and Resonac Corporation -- made sales of subject merchandise at less than normal value during the period of review June 1, 2023, through May 31, 2024.

China Wood Flooring: Final Results of CVD Admin Review

The Commerce Department has published the final results of its countervailing duty administrative review on multilayered wood flooring from China (C-570-971). The agency set new CVD cash deposit rates for five Chinese producers and exporters. These final results will be used to set final assessments of CVD on importers for entries during the period Jan. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2022.

House Panel Passes FMC Reauthorization Bill

The House Transportation Committee approved a bill Sept. 17 by voice vote that would reauthorize the Federal Maritime Commission through FY 2029. The legislation would give the agency several new tools to protect ocean shipping, including by establishing a formal process to report complaints about shipping exchanges, which connect shippers with carriers to make agreements or contracts for transporting cargo (see 2506300066).
