It said the move was designed “to accelerate Kodak’s growth strategies in consumer, professional and entertainment imaging as well as streamline operations, consistent with the digital strategy outlined to investors on Sept. 25 in New York City” (CED Sept 26 p3). Kodak said the new D&FIS division would consist of 7 key strategic product and service groups with the gen. mgr. of each reporting to D&FIS Pres. Bernard Masson, who said: “Our new operating model will enable us to stay ahead of changing technology while improving our focus on customer needs.” It said Matt Freund, pres. of the former Consumer Imaging products and services division, would retire March 1, 2004, while, as previously announced, Willy Shih, former pres. of Digital & Applied Imaging products and services, had been named pres.- Display & Components, and Karen Smith-Pilkington, pres. of the former Kodak Professional products and services division, would take on “a new leadership role within the company to be announced at a later time.”
