Revision 1 Delayed Because Miscellaneous Trade Bill Not Yet Enacted

Sources had previously stated that electronic HTS Revision 1 was expected to be posted to the ITC Web site by mid-April. However, sources now state that because the Miscellaneous Trade and Technical Corrections Act of 2003 has not yet been enacted, the ITC has decided to delay the posting of the revised 2004 HTS.

(See ITT's Online Archives or today's ITT, 04042235, for details on the status of the Miscellaneous Trade and Technical Corrections Act of 2003, including information on why it has not yet been enacted.)

According to sources, if and when the Miscellaneous Trade and Technical Corrections Act of 2003 is enacted, the ITC would then be expected to post a revised 2004 HTS to its Web site which would include, among other things, any tariff changes that result from its enactment.

ITC Still Expects to Issue its Traditional Mid-Year Paper and Electronic Revisions

However, sources note that even if the Miscellaneous Trade and Technical Corrections Act of 2003 is not enacted before mid-2004, the ITC still expects to issue its mid-year electronic and paper revisions to the 2004 HTS.

(See ITT's Online Archives 03/24/04 news, 04032405, for previous BP summary on the ITC's plans to post a revised 2004 HTS in mid-April, including description of revisions expected to be included.)
