2. House and Senate Committees Informally Approve U.S.-Morocco FTA Implementing Legislation
According to Congressional sources, on June 14, 2004, both the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee informally approved draft implementing legislation for the U.S.-Morocco free trade agreement (FTA). 3. WCO Launches New Customs Valuation Course for Private Sector
The World Customs Organization (WCO) has launched a Customs Valuation course on its e-learning platform, which is the first of its kind to be marketed to the private sector. According to the WCO, the modules examine Valuation from two perspectives: an academic approach to the WTO Agreement on Valuation of Goods and a practical approach based on the WCO's expertise in implementing the Agreement in an integrated trade environment. 4. APHIS Final Rule Recognizes Chile as Free of Classical Swine Fever
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued a final rule, effective July 28, 2004, in order to add Chile to the list of regions recognized as free of classical swine fever (CSF) and to add Chile to a list of CSF-free regions whose exports of live swine, pork, and pork products to the U.S. must meet certain certification requirements to ensure their freedom from CSF, etc. (See ITT's Online Archives or 12/05/03 news, 03120599 6, for BP summary of the proposed rule.)
