2. APHIS Proposed Rule Would Allow Certain Beef Imports from Japan
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued a proposed rule that would amend its regulations at 9 CFR Part 94, which govern the importation of meat and other edible animal products, in order to allow, under certain conditions, the importation of whole cuts of boneless beef from Japan. APHIS states that written comments received before September 19, 2005 will be considered. 3. FMCSA Final Rule Makes Certain Amendments to FMCSRs
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued a final rule which is intended to amend the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs, 49 CFR Part 393) in order to remove obsolete and redundant regulations; respond to several petitions for rulemaking; provide improved definitions of vehicle types, systems, and components; resolve certain inconsistencies; and codify certain FMCSA regulatory guidance concerning the requirements of 49 CFR Part 393. According to FMCSA, this final rule is effective September 14, 2005. 4. U.S. International Telecommunication Advisory Committee to Meet Sept. 8
The State Department has issued a notice announcing that the U.S. International Telecommunication Advisory Committee will meet on September 8, 2005 in Washington, DC to discuss matters related to the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), in preparation for the third WSIS Preparatory Committee Meeting. According to the State Department, this meeting is open to the public. 5. ITA's ETTAC to Hold Open Plenary Meeting On September 16, 2005
The International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a notice announcing that the Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee (ETTAC) will hold an open meeting on September 16, 2005 in Washington, DC at which time it will discuss global climate change mitigation initiatives, the European Union's electronic and other waste initiatives, updated negotiations in the World Trade Organization's environmental goods and services trade liberalization, and the Export-Import Bank's environmental exports program.
