CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued its weekly quota commodity report as of August 22, 2005. This report includes tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain JFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, UAFTA and UCFTA TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CBTPA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA (CFTA) tariff preference levels (TPLs) for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly quota commodity report, dated 08/22/05, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)

2. Certain Flannel Fabric Designated as "Commercially Unavailable" Under CBTPA

CBP has posted to its Web site a notice announcing that the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) has designated certain 100% cotton, 2x2 twill weave, flannel fabrics, of ring spun and combed 2 ply yarns, of certain specifications, classified in HTS 5208.43.0000, for use in men's and boys' woven cotton shirts and women's and girls' woven cotton shirts and blouses, qualified for U.S.-Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA) duty- and quota-free treatment under HTS 9820.11.27, provided certain requirements are met. 3. Certain Twill Fabric Designated as "Commercially Unavailable" Under CBTPA

CBP has posted to its Web site a notice announcing that CITA has designated certain 100% cotton carbon emerized, three or four-thread twill weave fabrics, of certain specifications, classified in HTS 5208.33.0000, for use in woven cotton shirts and blouses, qualified for CBTPA duty- and quota-free treatment under HTS 9820.11.27, provided certain requirements are met. 4. TSN Committee and Subcommittee Structure

CBP has posted to its Web site a table of the Trade Support Network's (TSN) Committee and Subcommittee structure. For each committee or subcommittee, CBP lists the eCP trade/technical lead, the co-chairs, and the committee or subcommittee's focal activities. CBP also includes, as an addendum to the table, a list of the TSN Committee co-chairs, eCP trade and technical leads and their email addresses. 5. Miscellaneous CBP Messages on AD and CV Duty Actions

CBP has issued messages on a number of antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CV) duty actions, many of which (marked by an * in the action column) were previously published in the Federal Register by the International Trade Administration (ITA) and summarized in International Trade Today.

(The CBP messages marked with an * cover much of the same information as the ITA notices; however, CBP's messages often list the 10-character case number specific to each listed company(s). ITA notices only list the 7-character master case number. In addition, sometimes the master case number for CBP purposes (in parentheses, below, where applicable) differs from the ITA master case number.)
