1. U.S. and Vietnam Expected to Sign Bilateral WTO Market Access Agreement on May 31st
2. State Department Final Rule Requires Presentation of Passports by Certain Mexican Nationals at Border Crossings
The State Department has issued a final rule, effective May 30, 2006, which amends 22 CFR Part 41 in order to require the presentation of Mexican Federal passports as a necessary condition for Mexican citizens applying for combined Border Crossing Cards and B-1/B-2 visas (laser visas). The final rule also removes the conditions under which certain beneficiaries of the Immigration and Nationality Act 212(d)(3)(A) waivers of ineligibility could receive laser visas. 3. U.S. and Switzerland Sign "Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum" Agreement
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a press release announcing that the U.S. and Switzerland signed the U.S.-Switzerland Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement on May 25, 2006. USTR states that this agreement establishes "Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum" for the U.S. and Switzerland to discuss bilateral trade and related issues and examine ways to strengthen its economic relationship.
