1. APHIS Makes Available Draft Pest Risk Analysis for Avocados from Peru
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued a notice announcing the availability of a draft pest risk analysis for Hass avocados from Peru. APHIS states that a proposed rule currently under consideration would allow the importation of such avocados from Peru into the continental U.S. APHIS states that comments should be received on or before July 24, 2006. 2. APHIS Issues Corrections to Final Rule on Import of Swine & Swine Products from Certain EU Member States
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued corrections to its final rule regarding the import of swine and swine products from 15 European Union (EU) Member States. 3. FDA Notice of Withdrawals and Revisions of Seven Guidances for Industry
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a notice announcing five withdrawals and two revisions of guidances for industry due to inconsistencies with the FDA's initiative, Pharmaceutical Current Good Manufacturing Practices for the 21st Century. The guidances listed in the notice are cross-Center guidances relating to products regulated by the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDER), the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), and the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM). 4. ITA Announces Meeting of the President's Export Council Regarding Dubai Ports
The International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a notice announcing that the President's Export Council (PEC) is scheduled to hold an open meeting via teleconference to deliberate a draft recommendation to the President regarding the Dubai Ports issue on June 26, 2006. 5. DOE Announces Meeting on Energy Conservation Standards for Certain Lamps, etc.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a notice announcing an open meeting on June 15, 2006 in Washington, DC to discuss and receive comments on energy conservation standards for general service fluorescent lamps, incandescent reflector lamps, and general service incandescent lamps. In addition, DOE has issued a Framework Document on these subjects. Written comments are due by June 29, 2006.
