HTS Updated for Chapter 99 Provisions in Pension Protection Act

The September 1, 2006 version of the HTS (Supplement 1, Revision 2) reflects the addition to the HTS of new temporary Chapter 99 duty suspension/reduction provisions, and the extension of certain existing temporary HTS Chapter 99 duty suspension/reduction provisions.

(On August 17, 2006, President Bush signed into law H.R. 4, the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (Public Law (P.L.) 109-280).

Besides providing for certain new and extended HTS Chapter 99 provisions, P.L. 109-280 modified certain Dominican Republic - Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA) provisions for various textiles and apparel, temporarily suspended the antidumping (AD)/countervailing (CV) duty new shipper bonding privilege, made certain Customs-related technical amendments, amended certain wool and vessel repair duty provisions, etc.
