DHS Awards SBI net Contract to Boeing Co., (Model to be Deployed at Southwest Border During the Next Eight Months)
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a press release announcing the award of a contract with the Boeing Co. to implement SBInet along the U.S. northern and southern borders.

(CBP has previously stated that SBInet will support all components and strategic objectives of the Secure Border Initiative (SBI) by integrating personnel, infrastructure, technology, and rapid response capability into a comprehensive border protection system.)
SBInet Will Mix Current and Next Generation Technology, Infrastructure, Etc.
DHS states that the SBInet program will provide DHS, and its agents and officers, with the best solution to detect, identify, classify, respond to and resolve illegal entry attempts at U.S. land borders with Mexico and Canada.
According to the press release, SBInet will provide frontline personnel advantages in securing the nation's land borders by fielding the most effective mix of current and next generation technology, infrastructure, staffing, and response platforms.
SBInet Model to be Deployed During the Next Eight Months
DHS states that SBInet solution will be deployed using a homeland security threat-based approach. A model of the entire solution mix will be deployed at the Southwest border, along 28 miles of the border south of Tucson, during the next eight months. According to DHS, following this initial deployment, additional task orders will be issued focusing on the Southwest border first.
