CBP has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that recent changes to the 2007 Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) records, Harmonized System (HS) Update (No. 0705) include the following:

1. HS Update - Changes to the 2007 Harmonized Tariff Schedule Records

Changes required by the verification of the 2007 HTS; CBP will continue to verify the 2007 HTS for the remainder of the year.

CBP states that updated records are currently available to all ABI participants and can be retrieved electronically via the procedures outlined in the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements (CATAIR). 2. Various Postings to CBP Web Site

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has recently posted the following documents to its Web site:

U.S./Mexico and U.S./Canada FAST Commercial Driver Information. CBP has posted the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) commercial driver application (CBP Form 823F) and instructions for Mexico, as well as U.S./Canada FAST driver application instructions and the U.S./Canada FAST Commercial Driver Guide. San Ysidro seeks to add security, reduce wait time. CBP has posted a press release regarding San Ysidro, the busiest land port in the U.S. According to the press release, regional and national CBP officials are concerned about wait times, inconvenience for travelers and economic impact on both sides of the border. The press release quotes the CBP Commissioner as stating that the expansion and reconstruction of the port at San Ysidro is CBP's number one facility issue nationally. Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act. CBP has posted information regarding the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act of 1996 and CBP's regulatory fairness program background.
