1. FDA Adds Three New Product Codes for Corn Byproducts
According to the FDA, if the product is intended for human consumption, the new product code 02B[ ][ ]09 for corn gluten should be used.
If the product is intended for use in animal feed, the existing product code 71G[ ][ ]02 should be used.
FDA also states that new codes have been added for corn germ meal (02B[ ][ ]10) and corn bran (02B[ ][ ] 11).
FDA explains that when using the new product codes, the fourth and fifth characters in the code should be filled with the appropriate subclass and process indicator code.
FDA requests that those transmitting entries to FDA which contain corn byproducts first determine the intended use and then select the appropriate product code.
