3. APHIS Restricts Imports of Emerald Ash Borer Host Material from Canada

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has issued an interim rule, effective June 1, 2007, establishing regulations to prohibit or restrict the importation of certain articles from Canada that present a risk of being infested with emerald ash borer, including prohibiting all ash trees that originate in regions regulated by the Canadian Food Inspections Agency, and restricting certain nursery stock, plants and other propagative plant material, among other things. APHIS is also requesting comments on or before July 31, 2007.
