The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has posted to its Web site both a brief and a detailed summary of the trade promotion agreement (another term for free trade agreement) with Colombia. The U.S.-Colombia TPA was signed in November 2006 and revised on June 28, 2007 to reflect the bipartisan consensus on trade reached in May 2007. 2. CEO Retreat Addresses Chinese Quality Control, Supply Chain Safety

CNN and Fortune report that dozens of CEOs and other executives from U.S. consumer product companies met recently in West Virginia to discuss their supply chains in light of the "Chinese quality crisis." With tainted and defective imports from China in the spotlight, several CEOs speaking at the event believe that companies need to dedicate more resources to ensure their supply chains are producing safe goods, including hiring a Chief Imports Officer or "Import Czar" to oversee global sourcing. 3. NAFTA Countries Launch Pollution Control and Other "Green" Initiatives

The Washington File reports that the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Mexican Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Canadian Environment Minister recently launched collaborative initiatives on "green" building, pollution tracking, climate change, and conservation. The initiatives are part of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation established to complement the environmental provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement. 4. CPSC Requests Comments on FY 2009 Agenda and Priorities, Etc.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a notice requesting comments on its agenda and priorities for CPSC attention during fiscal year 2009, and about revisions to its current strategic plan, the revised version of which will be submitted to Congress in the fall of 2007. 5. APHIS Proposes to Remove Certain Treatments for Plant Pests, Etc.

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has issued a proposed rule to amend the regulations for the treatment of plant pests by removing two treatment options that APHIS now believes to be ineffective at neutralizing their target plant pests, by removing two treatment schedules that are no longer authorized for use, and by clarifying the fruits and vegetables on which two methyl bromide treatments may be used. 6. State Dept's Advisory Committee on Int'l Economic Policy to Meet July 31st

7. General Services Admin. Permitted to Construct, Etc. New Commercial Land Border Crossing

The State Department has issued a Presidential permit, effective June 30, 2007, authorizing the General Services Administration to construct, operate and maintain a new commercial land border crossing near San Luis, Arizona, known as the "San Luis II" crossing.
