CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of August 20, 2007. This report includes TRQs on various products such as beef, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa products, tobacco, certain BFTA, DR-CAFTA, Israel FTA, JFTA, MFTA, SFTA, UAFTA (AFTA) and UCFTA (Chile FTA) non-textile TRQs, etc. Each report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, BFTA, DR-CAFTA, CBTPA, Haiti HOPE, MFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TPLs and TRQs for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly TRQ/TPL commodity report, dated 08/20/07, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)

The following have recently been posted to CBP's Web site:

141 enforcement actions by CBP at AZ ports in early August. CBP has issued a press release announcing that in early August CBP officers at Arizona ports of entry had been busy with 141 different enforcement actions completed involving a variety of activities, including narcotics smuggling, fugitive apprehensions, stopping deported felons from re-entering, uncovering fraudulent entry attempts and stopping agriculture smuggling attempts. SENTRI FAQ posted. CBP has posted a Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) frequently asked questions document which provides information on application fees, payment methods, etc. (FAQ, dated 08/15/07, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/trusted_traveler/sentri/faqs/sentri_faqs2.xml)

SENTRI participants can apply, pay fees online. CBP has issued a press release announcing that SENTRI participants may now utilize a Web tool to apply for and administer their participation in the program and may now pay application and other program fees online. Various NEXUS documents posted. CBP has posted three documents regarding the NEXUS alternative inspection program. The first document provides a program description, including information on who qualifies for NEXUS, how to apply, etc. The second document is a NEXUS frequently asked questions document and the third document provides information on how to renew NEXUS membership. Online application for NEXUS. CBP has issued a news release announcing that cross-border travelers wishing to apply for NEXUS privileges are now able to do so through a new online application system. The antidumping and countervailing messages CBP issues on behalf of the International Trade Administration are now only available on CBP's Web site at http://addcvd.cbp.gov. AD and CV ABI administrative messages are no longer issued.
