U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that the Port of Charlotte was scheduled to open at 10:00 am on January 17, 2008. CBP unveils its new message system. CBP has issued a press release announcing that users of all automated trade processing systems can now obtain the latest system-related information via a new administrative message capability, the Cargo Systems Messaging Service. CBP announces RFID contract award to Unisys. CBP has issued a press release announcing the award of a task order to Unisys Corporation to implement vicinity Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and new License Plate Reader technologies along the U.S.' northern and southern borders. CBP to no longer accept oral declarations effective 01/31. CBP has posted a notice (in both English and Spanish) announcing that as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), effective January 31, 2008, oral declarations will no longer be satisfactory as evidence of citizenship and identity for U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 19 and older entering the U.S. at land or sea ports of entry. DHS begins collecting 10 fingerprints from int'l visitors in Atlanta. CBP has issued a news release announcing that the Department of Homeland Security has begun collecting ten fingerprints (instead of two) from international visitors arriving at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The antidumping and countervailing messages U.S. Customs Border and Protection issues on behalf of the International Trade Administration are now only available on CBP's Web site at http://addcvd.cbp.gov. AD and CV ABI administrative messages are no longer issued.
