CBP CSMS Messages and Web Postings

According to various documents posted to U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Web site, the Department of Homeland Security recently announced its intent to issue two waivers of certain laws to expedite security improvements at the southwest border. Congress gave the DHS Secretary authority to waive all legal requirements necessary to expeditiously install additional physical barriers and roads at the border to deter illegal activity.

1. DHS Waives Certain Laws to Expedite Southwest Border Fence, Etc.

One waiver applies to certain environmental and land management laws for various project areas in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. A separate waiver was signed for the levee-border barrier project in Hidalgo County, Texas.

CBP seizes marijuana concealed in monumental stone. CBP has issued a news release announcing that officers at the Calexico east port of entry detained a Mexican truck driver and seized over 754 pounds of marijuana hidden inside a shipment of concreteic monumental stone products. 3. Miscellaneous CBP Messages on AD and CV Duty Actions

The antidumping and countervailing messages U.S. Customs Border and Protection issues on behalf of the International Trade Administration are now only available on CBP's Web site at http://addcvd.cbp.gov. AD and CV ABI administrative messages are no longer issued.
