2. AES Seminar, AESPcLink Workshop in Roanoke, Virginia

The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an Automated Export System (AES) Compliance Seminar and Workshop in Daleville, VA (near Roanoke) on September 9, 2008. 3. San Antonio Business Owner Pleads Guilty to Ex-Im Bank Fraud, Tax/Money Laundering Charges

The Export-Import Bank reports that Andrew Maxwell Parker, owner of San Antonio Trade Group, Inc., has pled guilty to conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, and filing false tax returns. By pleading guilty to the charges, Parker admitted that from February 2003 to November 2006, he schemed to defraud the Ex-Im Bank by stealing millions of dollars in loan proceeds from private U.S. lenders to Mexican business owners and causing multi-million dollar losses to Ex-Im Bank who guaranteed or insured those loans based on false applications and support documentation submitted by Parker, etc.

4. Mexican National Pleads Guilty to Smuggling Firearms to Mexico

Immigration and Customs Enforcement reports that a Mexican national, Ernesto Tornel Olvera-Garza, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count each of conspiracy to obtain firearms by making false statements, and conspiracy to smuggle firearms into Mexico. 5. APHIS Proposes to Allow Imports of Oranges, Grapefruit from Chile

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued a proposed rule to amend the fruits and vegetables regulations to allow the importation, under certain conditions, of sweet oranges and grapefruit from Chile into the continental U.S. Comments are due on or before October 27, 2008. 6. CBSA Concludes Re-Investigation of Export Prices of Certain Pipe Fittings from U.S., Korea, China

The Canada Border Services Agency issued a notice stating that on August 27, 2008, it concluded a re-investigation of the normal values and the export prices of certain copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from the U.S., the Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China pursuant to the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA).
