CBP CSMS Messages and Web Postings
CBP has issued a CSMS message requesting that importers not round the quantities reported on the 7501, but to instead report a quantity out to two decimal places on the entry summary for shipments subject to the U.S.-Canada Softwood Lumber Agreement 2006 (SLA 2006).

1. CBP Asks Importers Not to Round Quantities on Entry Summaries for Shipments Subject to SLA 2006
CBP states that this will ensure that, when U.S. quantities are converted into board feet, they will more closely match the quantities reported to Canada. (Under the SLA 2006, CBP is charged with working with the Canadian government to reconcile the export permit data collected by Canada with the entry summary data collected by CBP. The results of the quarterly reconciliations are closely scrutinized by several trade groups and reviewed by other U.S. government agencies. Therefore, it is important that the reconciliations' results show data that is as consistent as possible.)
CBP also revised its SLA 2006 frequently asked questions document to include a question and answer on rounding quantities.
