President Signs FY 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill into Law

On March 11, 2009, President Obama signed into law H.R. 1105, the fiscal year 20091 omnibus appropriations bill, which is intended to "wrap up work" on the remaining FY 2009 appropriations bills2.

Highlights of the Trade-Related Aspects of H.R. 1105

H.R. 1105 and its Explanatory Statement contain numerous trade-related provisions, including (partial list):

On September 30, 2008, President Bush signed into law the "Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009" (Public Law 110-329) which already provides FY 2009 funding to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS, including CBP, TSA, etc.), Defense Department, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs. P.L. 110-329 also contained a continuing resolution which provided funding for all other agencies until enactment of regular appropriations bills or until March 6, 2009, whichever occurred first. On March 6, 2009, President Obama signed into law H.J. Res. 38, a resolution continuing FY 2009 appropriations through March 11, 2009.
