CBP Posts Six Informed Compliance Publications Reviewed with No Change

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted six informed compliance publications that were reviewed in March 2009 with no change.

The following are highlights of the ICPs:

Agglomerated stone. This ICP covers articles of artificial stone - more commonly referred to as agglomerated stone - provided for in HTS heading 6810. The ICP provides information on the definition of agglomerated stone, the confusion of articles of agglomerated stone covered by HTS heading 6810 and monumental/building stone classifiable in HTS heading 6802, the requirement that stone material in agglomerated stone be natural stone, etc.

Decorative glassware. In this ICP, CBP provides guidance on the classification of decorative glassware. The ICP covers topics such as household glassware, types of decorative glassware, provisions for special types of glass articles, glass globes or domes, glass/metal articles, picture frames, importer's responsibilities, etc.

Buttons, snap-fasteners, slide fasteners and similar articles. This ICP provides guidance regarding the classification of buttons, snap-fasteners, slide fasteners and similar articles used for fastening or decorating articles of apparel, household linen, etc., and may be made of various materials (plastics, base metal, wood, etc.) and contain pearls, precious or semi-precious stones, and if minor components of these articles, precious metal or metal clad with precious metal.

Classification and marking of watches and clocks. This ICP provides general information on the classification of watches and clocks, with detailed information provided on their country of origin marking.

Table and kitchen glassware. In this ICP, CBP provides information on the classification of glassware used for table or kitchen purposes, such as table and kitchen glassware, glass ceramics, specially tempered glassware, glass preserving jars, glass stoppers, lids, and other closures.

Distinguishing bolts from screws. This ICP provides guidance regarding the classification of bolts and screws. Among other things, it includes bolt and screw definitions; explanatory data; the two sets of criteria - primary and supplementary - that need to be applied to identify a fastener as a bolt or a screw; etc.
