Broadband Stimulus Notes
Washington is soliciting proposals from companies interested in mapping the state, Washington’s Broadband Advisory Council said this week. While the state issued the request for proposals on July 17, the council made it public this week along with a report on how best to increase broadband connectivity in the state. States must designate a single entity to do broadband mapping in order to receive federal mapping funds.

An informal poll of American Cable Association (ACA) members found nearly half surveyed would likely apply for federal broadband funding, the trade group said Thursday. The survey was conducted during a forum in Grapevine, Texas. It also found 53 percent of members would apply for at least $1 million and that 36 percent would apply for last-mile funding. The ACA represents small- and medium-sized independent cable companies.
