The World Customs Organization has announced two conferences that will take place in June in Brussels, Belgium: the WCO’s Risk Management Forum and the British Chamber of Commerce’s Integrated Border Management Conference.

Customs Risk Management Forum: June 28 - 29
The WCO’s Risk Management Forum, which will take place June 28-29, 2010, will explore how risk management can help Customs Administrations better achieve the dual goal of enhanced compliance and security while maximizing trade facilitation benefits and opportunities. The forum will include Customs officials, the private sector, international organizations, and others.
The major objectives of the WCO’s Risk Management Forum are to:
- identify and analyze the key concepts of customs risk management;
- discuss the role of intelligence in managing risks;
- exchange experiences and good practices in managing risks;
- outline the need for building risk management related capacity; and
- forge new partnerships and provide a platform for dialogue and cooperation between the WCO Members as well as the WCO Members and other key stakeholders in the sphere of risk management.
Border Conference to Focus on Management of Europe’s Borders
The Integrated Border Management Conference, which will take place June 10, 2010, will bring together policy-makers, governmental agencies, industry players and other stakeholders, to debate the policy and practical issues relating to the management of Europe's borders.
The conference will look at existing programs and technologies and the experience gained in implementing integrated border management solutions around Europe and elsewhere. There will also be a discussion of the key policy issues that need to be addressed in developing these solutions, such as data privacy and protection, information management systems, and supporting the Internal Security Strategy.
