CBP Announces August 1 Opening for Certain Cotton TRQs
CBP has issued memos announcing the August 1, 2010 opening (for the quota period of 08/01/10- 07/31/11) of the following Uruguay Rounds/GATT cotton tariff rate quotas:

- Harsh or rough cotton, not carded or combed, the product of any country or area including the U.S., and described in HTS Chapter 52, Additional U.S. Note 6 with an in-quota (low-duty) restraint level of 1,400,000 kg (QBT-10-536)
- Cotton, not carded or combed, the product of any country or area including the U.S., and described in HTS Chapter 52, Additional U.S. Note 7 with an in-quota restraint level of 11,500,000 kg (QBT-10-537)
- Cotton, not carded or combed, the product of any country or area including the U.S., and described in HTS Chapter 52, Additional U.S. Note 8 with an in-quota restraint level of 40,100,000 kg (QBT-10-538)
CBP states that articles that are the product of Mexico shall not be permitted or included in the aforementioned TRQs and no such articles shall be classified therein.
In addition, articles that are the product of countries or areas who are not members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) shall not be permitted or included in these TRQs.
