CBP Says it Will No Longer Collect Canada Softwood Lumber Duties

CBP has issued a CSMS message stating that it will no longer collect the additional 10% duty on exports to the U.S. of softwood lumber products from the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan for products with a shipment date of September 1, 2010 or later. The U.S. and Canada have come to an understanding that results in the U.S. discontinuing collection of this 10% duty. (See ITT's Online Archives or 08/30/10 news, 10083011, for BP summary of USTR modifying the HTS to reflect Canada's collection of the duties, etc.)
