ITA Solicits 2011 TRQ Allocation Applications from Persons Who Weave Certain Worsted Wool Fabrics

The International Trade Administration has issued a notice soliciting applications from persons1 who weave certain worsted wool fabrics in the U.S suitable for making men's and boys' suits for an allocation of the 2011 tariff rate quota on certain worsted wool fabric.

Applications must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. on October 8, 2010.

(The TRQ2 provides a reduced duty rate on a limited quantity of worsted wool fabric with an average fiber diameter of 18.5 microns or less (containing 85% or more by weight of wool) (Harmonized Tariff Schedule heading 9902.51.16).)

The TRQ for HTS 9902.51.16 is 2,000,000 square meters annually. The TRQ is in effect through 2014.)

Application Forms Due by Oct 8

In order to receive an allocation, an applicant must submit the required form to the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) by October 8, 2010. The form will be available here.

(According to ITA sources, the form has not yet been updated for the 2011 TRQ but is expected to be updated soon.)

ITA to Post Allocation Notice in Federal Register

The ITA states that it will publish its determination to allocate the 2011 TRQ in the Federal Register and will notify applicants of their respective allocation as soon as possible after that date.
