These mandatory changes must be implemented or scheduled with CBP by December 15, 2010.

(In September 2010, CBP announced that it was migrating the Trade System VPN endpoints to the new DHS Data Center's VPN Gateways starting on September 21, 2010. At that time, CBP provided instructions for the trade using MQ Client to communicate with CBP via the internet and for the trade using MQ Server to communicate with CBP via the internet/MPLS VPN.)

Mandatory Change for Trade Using MQ Client

Trade partners that participate in the CBP Trade VPN Program and use MQ Client to communicate to CBP via Internet VPN (dynamic VPN client), must follow CBP's instructions on how to modify the CBP-provided Cisco Software VPN Client in order to accommodate DNS naming (dynatrd.cbp.dhs.gov) instead of the IP address (198.70.226.24). This change will allow the user's connection to be pointed to new DHS data center secure VPN gateways.

This change will be transparent to trade partners, but should a trade partner experience an inability to connect after this date/time, they should contact DHS/CBP at 1-877-347-1638 option 1. This mandatory change must be implemented by December 15, 2010.

Mandatory Change for Trade Using MQ Server

Trade partners that participate in the CBP Trade VPN Program and use MQ Server to communicate to CBP via Internet/MPLS VPN should be advised that CBP has actively begun scheduling the migration of the trade partner’s VPN link to the new DHS Data Center’s VPN Gateways. This mandatory migration will enhance availability/uptime and position the company to be ready in case of unforeseen outages.

Trade partners using the MQ Server should send their company name, technical POC name, email address and phone number to TICMigration@cbp.dhs.gov for more details and to be scheduled for this migration. This mandatory change must be scheduled with CBP by December 15, 2010.

(See ITT's Online Archives or 09/07/10 news, 10090721, for BP summary announcing the migration.)
