  • Phytos for Gypsy Moth. The CFIA has revised Directive D-95-03 "Asian Gypsy Moth (Lymantria Dispar L.) - Plant Protection Policy for Marine Vessels" to add new regulated areas and to facilitate the entry of vessels for which phytosanitary certification has been provided to verify freedom from all life stages of the insect.
  • Permits for novel plants. The CFIA has revised Directive D-96-13 "Import Requirements for Plants with Novel Traits, including Transgenic Plants and their Viable Plant Parts" to clarify the import permit requirements for plants with novel traits (PNTs). A number of definitions were also updated.
  • ISPM 15 for wood packaging. The CFIA has revised Directive D-01-05 "The Canadian Wood Packaging Certification Program (CWPCP)" for the color of the ink used for the mark, the specific contents of the mark (i.e. what should not be included) and additional clarifications.
  • Cryptographic exports. (5) If your cryptographic products meet the criteria for control described in the Guide to Canada's Export Controls, you should apply for an export permit for any destination other than the United States. There are a number of available types of export permits for these products.
