Canada Requests Comments on Modernizing Canada-Costa Rica FTA
The Government of Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade is seeking the views of Canadians on the scope of the negotiation for the modernization of the existing Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Republic of Costa Rica, which entered into force in 2002. This notice is part of Canada’s domestic consultation process to obtain advice and views on priorities, objectives and concerns to help outline the parameters of this FTA initiative. Comments are due by November 19, 2010.

(The Canada-Costa Rica FTA is a first generation agreement that focuses mainly on goods and does not include substantive provisions in areas such as cross-border trade in services, government procurement and financial services, and does not cover telecommunications and electronic commerce.)
