CPSC to Vote on Changes to Its Acceptance of Prior Children's Mattress Certifications
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is scheduled to vote by November 19, 2010 on a draft notice to revise the terms of its acceptance of children's product certifications based on testing that is conducted by a lab before it was accredited by CPSC. The proposed revisions would allow for two scenarios in which CPSC would accept such prior testing.

(Children's mattresses, mattress pads, and/or mattress sets manufactured on or after November 16, 2010 must be tested by a CPSC-accredited third party lab for flammability and certified as complying. In limited circumstances, CPSC accepts testing done by a lab prior to its acceptance as a CPSC-accredited third party lab.)
