  • Lamy pushes negotiating stage for Doha. Director-General Pascal Lamy told the General Council during its December 14 meeting that all delegations should now ensure that their representatives, at whatever level, are mandated to negotiate and all Doha negotiators are prepared to move out of their comfort zones towards agreement.
  • Regional trade agreements. The Negotiating Group on Rules agreed to launch a review of the provisional transparency mechanism for regional trade agreements (RTAs) with a view to making it permanent.
  • Geographical indications. Members negotiating a geographical indications register for wines and spirits supported the chair’s plan to produce the negotiating group’s first draft text by the end of the first quarter of 2011 with a view toward concluding the Doha Round by the end of 2011.
  • Trade and Technology Transfer report. The working group on Trade and Transfer of Technology has submitted its 2010 report to the WTO General Council.
