  • 8 substances added to REACH Candidate List. The European Chemicals Agency has added eight chemical substances to the REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern. Substances placed on the Candidate List face immediate notification requirements and could eventually be subject to “authorization,” meaning they cannot be placed on the market or used within the EU, except when authorized.
  • Mineral traceability law. The European Parliament backed plans to create an EU law ensuring traceability of imported minerals in a resolution passed on December 15, 2010, as a tool to combat illegal exploitation of conflict minerals in African countries.
