  • U.S. tax & customs cooperation. EU Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union Semeta spoke at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on EU-U.S. cooperation in tax and customs, and discussed, among other topics, intellectual property rights, trade facilitation, security of the supply chain, and a global financial transactions tax.
  • EU-Canada FTA negotiations. In a recent meeting, EU Trade Commissioner De Gucht and Canadian Trade Minister Van Loan declared that significant progress had been achieved and negotiations ot a free trade agreement will continue. Both sides confirmed that negotiations are progressing ahead of expectations and are on track to achieve an agreement by the end of 2011.
  • New & updated REACH guidance documents. The European Chemicals Agency has issued updates on guidance documents for information requirements, chemical safety assessments, and intermediates in relation to the REACH regulation. ECHA also published a new Guidance on the Communication of Information on the Risks and Safe Use of Chemicals intended to be used by EU Authorities.
