  • EU-U.S. IPR Portal. During the December 17, 2010 Transatlantic Economic Council, the EU and U.S. will launch a new website, the TransAtlantic IPR Portal, to help EU and US companies break into foreign markets and avoid IPR violations. The site will offer 'country toolkits' on IPR protection in more than 20 markets around the world and for various sectors including textiles, leather, footwear, and furniture to protect companies’ brands, trademarks and patents, before entering foreign markets.
  • U.S.-EU trade issues. In a speech at the Peterson Institute for Economics, European Commissioner for Trade De Gucht emphasized the importance of addressing regulatory divergences between the U.S. and EU, encouraging openness in government procurement, continuing to work together for a WTO Doha deal, etc.
