CPSC Crib Rule Posted to Website, Will Ban Traditional Drop-Sides, Etc.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has posted to its website the final rule that will soon be published in the Federal Register establishing new mandatory safety standards for full-size and non-full-size cribs. It has also posted copies of related, soon to be published documents, including the final rule that will revoke the existing regulations pertaining to full-size and non-full-size cribs and the lab accreditation requirements for these products.

According to a CPSC press release, the new mandatory crib standards will: (1) stop the manufacture and sale of dangerous, traditional drop-side cribs; (2) make mattress supports stronger; (3) make crib hardware more durable; and (4) make safety testing more rigorous.
