Upcoming BIS Teleconferences on Export Reform and Its Proposed Rules

The Bureau of Industry and Security has announced that it will hold weekly teleconferences with Assistant Secretary for Export Administration Kevin Wolf to discuss the agency’s proposed rules related to the Administration’s effort to reform the export control system.

BIS Recently Issued Proposed Rules as Part of Export Control Reform Initiative

On December 9, 2010, BIS published a proposed rule and an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking in the Federal Register. BIS is proposing a new export license exception for low-risk items/destinations in order to implement one part of the Administration’s export control reform initiative. In its ANPR, BIS is seeking comments on making the CCL clear, positive, and tiered, as part of the President’s export control reform initiative. (See ITT’s Online Archives or 12/09/10 news, 10120921, for BP summary.)

Teleconferences to Run December 22 -- February 2

Beginning Wednesday, December 22, 2010, Assistant Secretary Wolf will be available on Wednesdays through February 2, 2011 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST to answer questions related to export control reform -- especially the recently published proposed rules.

All questions must be submitted in advance and should be emailed to oesdseminar@bis.doc.gov with the subject line: “Teleconference questions.”

No Reservations Required to Participate, Calls Limited to 100 People/Session
