  • Byrd amendment, U.S. zeroing discussed at DSB meeting. At the December 17, 2010 WTO Dispute Settlement Body meeting, Japan and the European Union called on the U.S. to stop the transfer of antidumping and countervailing duties to U.S. industry pursuant to the US - Continued Dumping and Subsidy Offset Act of 2000 (aka Byrd Amendment). The DSB also adopted the panel and Appellate Body reports in the dispute, "Australia - Measures Affecting the Importation of Apples from New Zealand" (DS367) and heard status reports regarding implementation of various panel rulings, including those involving U.S. AD "zeroing" practices, EU biotech measures, etc.
  • Philippines distilled spirits dispute. The Chairman of the panel examining the dispute "Philippines - Taxes on Distilled Spirits" (DS396) brought by the EU announced that the panel expects to issue its final report by June 2011.
