  • New regs to prevent import of aquatic animal disease. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued information on new regulations that came into effect on December 22, 2010 to better safeguard the health of the domestic industry from the import of aquatic animal disease, enhance domestic surveillance and put into place an emergency plan to respond to disease outbreaks.
  • Final AD/CV injury inquiry for steel grating from China. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has initiated a final injury inquiry on the dumping and subsidizing of steel grating from the People’s Republic of China. Preliminary determinations have already been made on the dumping and subsidizing of subject merchandise.
  • AD duty for U.S. sugar due to threat of injury. CBSA has issued a memorandum on the application of antidumping duty on imports of refined sugar originating in or exported from the United States of America. The duty is applied as a result of the finding of threat of injury by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal.
  • AD/CV duty for China thermoelectric containers due to injury. CBSA has issued a memorandum on the applications of antidumping and countervailing duty to importations of certain thermoelectric containers originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China. The duty is applied as a result of the findings of injury by the CITT.
  • AD duty for Dutch Bell Peppers due to threat of injury. CBSA has issued a memorandum on the application of antidumping duty on imports of greenhouse bell peppers originating in or exported from the Netherlands. The duty is applied as a result of the finding of threat of injury by the CITT.
  • AD duty for China mattress innerspring units due to injury. CBSA has issued a memorandum on certain mattress innerspring units originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China. The duty is applied as a result of the finding of injury by the CITT.
  • New phthalates toy and child care article regulations. The Canada Gazette has published new phthalates regulations for toys and child care articles as well as a consequential amendment to the Hazardous Products (Toys) regulations.   • Consumer product recalls. Health Canada has published information on two separate joint recalls with the US CPSC - (a) Silver Tree Tealight Holder Joint Recall with Michaels Stores, Inc., of Irving, Texas, and (b) Zoom Buggy Car and Dream Pillow Star Educational Toys with Darton Manufacturing Ltd. of China and Kindermusik International Inc. of Greensboro, North Carolina.
