Eligible NEXUS or Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) participants may begin to utilize the Global Entry kiosks immediately upon notification of eligibility from CBP. Comments may be submitted throughout the duration of the Global Entry pilot.

NEXUS/SENTRI Terms & Conditions for Use of Global Entry Airport Kiosks

Global Entry airport kiosks were initially set up for the sole use of Global Entry participants. CBP announces that eligible participants in good standing in the NEXUS and SENTRI trusted traveler programs who are of 14 years of age or older, may use the airport kiosks if the following terms and conditions are met:

NEXUS. A current NEXUS participant will only have access to the Global Entry kiosks for the amount of time remaining on his/her NEXUS membership. Access to the Global Entry kiosks would continue for the full period of the NEXUS membership upon approval of the renewed NEXUS membership.

SENTRI. Before a current SENTRI participant who is a Mexican national may be qualified to utilize the Global Entry kiosks he or she must indicate his or her wish to use the Global Entry kiosks on the Global Online Enrollment System (GOES) website by checking the relevant box. By checking the box, the person authorizes the U.S. government to release all relevant information to the Mexican government for the purpose of conducting a thorough risk assessment.

(NEXUS cards are Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant documents for land and sea travel, as well as air travel when traveling to and from airports using the NEXUS program, and provide expedited travel via land, air or sea to approved members between the U.S.-Canada border. SENTRI cards are WHTI-compliant documents for entry into the U.S. by land or sea, and also provide expedited travel to approved members between the U.S.-Mexico border.)

CBP Will Notify Participants of Global Entry Kiosk Eligibility through GOES

CBP will send NEXUS or SENTRI participants an email, post cards, and a message to their GOES account from CBP notifying participants of their eligibility for the Global Entry kiosks and whether or not the individual may immediately begin utilizing the Global Entry kiosks. CBP will also update the Trusted Traveler websites to notify participants. CBP notes that use of the Global Entry kiosks is voluntary.

(In April 2008, CBP announced the establishment of the Global Entry pilot program, an international trusted traveler pilot program to allow for the expedited clearance of pre-approved low-risk air travelers into the U.S. to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. lawful permanent residents (LPRs), and certain eligible citizens of the Netherlands.

In November 2009, CBP proposed establishing the Global Entry pilot as a permanent voluntary international trusted traveler program. The Global Entry pilot is currently operational at twenty U.S. airports.)
