Canadian Government Notices for Jan 7-8

The Government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices on January 7 and 8, 2011:

  • NAFTA Commission meeting. On January 10, 2011, Canada’s Minister of International Trade will travel to Mexico City for a NAFTA Free Trade Commission meeting with his U.S. and Mexican counterparts.
  • Interim order on mail, cargo. In the January 8, 2011 issue of the Canada Gazette, the Department of Transportation issued Interim Order No. 5 regarding its Mail, Cargo and Baggage order which, among other things, states that an air carrier must not transport on a flight to Canada mail or cargo that originates or has transited through Yemen or Somalia.
  • Recalls. Honda Engines on Certain Mantis® Tillers and Honda FG110K1CT Mini Tillers (01/07/11), Children's Sleepers sold by Sears Canada (01/07/11).
  • Frozen dumplings. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Seoul Trading Corporation are warning people with allergies to egg proteins not to consume certain Misori brand and Choripdong brand frozen dumpling products. The affected products contain egg which is not declared on the label.
  • Spicy bake mix. The CFIA and Sun Fung Foods (Canada) Inc. are warning people with allergies to egg, gluten, and soy not to consume Ideal Food brand Ideal Spicy Bake Mix. The affected product contains egg, gluten, and soy proteins which are not declared on the label.
  • Domestic Substances List. In the January 8, 2011 issue of the Canada Gazette, Canada's Minister of the Environment issued a notice of its intent to amend the Domestic Substances List with respect to new uses for three substances.
