  • Council to discuss Germany dioxin incident, etc. The Agriculture & Fisheries Council will meet on January 24, 2011 to discuss, among other things, the present dioxin situation in Germany, the pig meat sector, the Common Agricultural Policy towards 2020, and honeybee health.
  • EU-US climate cooperation. EU President of the Committee of the Regions Bresso discussed trans-Atlantic cooperation on climate action at a delegation of U.S. mayors in a meeting with U.S. President Obama, presenting a model for local U.S. governments to mirror the EU's Covenant of Mayors role in promoting climate action.
  • Emissions trade of industrial gas credits. EU Member States voted to ban from use in the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), emission offset credits from certain projects which destroy industrial gases.Companies will be able to use these credits for 2012 compliance under the EU ETS until April 30, 2013, but not thereafter.
  • Recalls. The European Commission has issued measures to prevent or restrict the marketing or use of 25 products in the EU, including certain clothing, gas appliances, children's articles, cosmetics, watches, toys, etc.
