World Trade Organization Notices for Jan 21

  • Patents, access to medicine. The WTO, World Health Organization, and World Intellectual Property Organization will hold a technical symposium on “Access to Medicines, Patent Information and Freedom to Operate” on February 18, 2011 in Geneva. An optional workshop on patent searches will be offered February 17, 2011.
  • Industrial goods negotiations. On January 20, 2011 after four intensive days of consultations, the chairman of the industrial goods negotiations, Ambassador Wasescha, talked about a “change of spirit” in the talks and saw “the beginning of what might evolve into the final face of the negotiations.”
  • WTO meetings. The WTO has updated its tentative schedule of meetings for 2011.
