  • EU-IMO CO2 talks. The European Commission officials met with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to discuss how the maritime sector and ships can contribute to cutting greenhouse gas emissions if there is no international agreement. (here)
  • Product safety rules. The Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee has endorsed certain proposals to improve the legislative framework to enhance product safety for children,and to improve market surveillance to be voted at the March plenary session. (here)
  • Banana trade tariffs. The European Parliament has agreed to back the 2009 Geneva agreement to gradually end its preferential treatment of banana exporters in African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries in exchange for an agreement by Latin American countries to drop their complaints at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
