ITC Votes to Institute Patent Case on Solar Power Systems Against Canadian and Zep Solar

The International Trade Commission has voted to institute a section 337 patent-based investigation of certain integrated solar power systems and components thereof. The products at issue in this investigation are solar energy panels and components thereof (337-TA-811).

The investigation is based on a complaint filed by Westinghouse Solar, Inc. and Andalay Solar, Inc., both of Campbell, CA on October 3, 2011. The complaint alleges violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of these products and requests an ITC exclusion order and a cease and desist order. Zep Solar, Inc., of San Rafael, CA; Canadian Solar, Inc., of Canada; and Canadian Solar (USA) Inc. of San Ramon, CA are listed as the respondents in this investigation.
