APHIS Updates Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) Manuals
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has updated the following PPQ electronic manuals through December 29, 2011 (since the last update dated December 19):

- Approved Pelargonium Cuttings Facilities List. The Approved Pelargonium Cuttings Facilities list of APHIS inspected facilities that are approved to export Pelargonium cuttings to the United States has been updated, transmittal 12/2011-08, to reflect new certification dates and a new address. Changes are indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page (12/28/11) (here)
- Treatment Manual. The online Treatment Manual has been revised. The reason for the revision was to add litchi from South Africa to the list of commodities approved for irradiation treatment using T105-a-2. [APHIS-2010-0012 effective 12/28/11] (12/27/11) (here)
- Fruit and Vegetables Manual & Import Requirements (FAVIR) Database. The online version of the Fruits and Vegetables Manual and the FAVIR database have been updated. There were several reasons for the update: (1) Egypt: added shredded lettuce to the list of admissible commodities. Detailed import requirements are found in the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual [APHIS-2011-0078 effective 12/28/11], and (2) South Africa: added litchi to the list of admissible commodities [APHIS-2010-0012 effective 12/28/11] (12/27/11) (here and here)
- Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual. The following changes have been made to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the table or page number: (1) Table 3-80 Frozen fruits and vegetables (whole, sections, or sliced; or puree, or pulp) change: table title has been changed; language in second column (And its condition:), second cell has been revised; language in fifth column (Then:), ninth cell and sixth column (Authority:), fourth cell has been revised; footnote #2 has been added; (2) New Table 3-106 Lettuce (Latuca sativa L.), shredded (fresh, precut), entering into a port of entry within the continental United States change: table has been ADDED; (3) Table 3-175 (formerly Table 3-174) Salads and soup mixes (fresh, precut) change: last row in the table is new; (4) Table 3-183 (formerly Table 3-182) Screening wood to determine admissibility change: language has been added to clarify the definition of “Primary processing” in footnote #2. - Cut Flowers and Greenery Import Manual. Internal and external cross-references, and links contained in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and the Index have all been updated. (12/19/11) (here)
