ITC Corrects 484(f) Committee Changes for Three 2012 HTS Nos

International Trade Commission officials have issued three corrections to its recently released list of Harmonized Tariff Schedule statistical changes (at the 9th and 10th digit level) approved by the 484(f) Committee, that take effect on January 1, 2012. The corrections affect light amber honey and certain AC generators (alternators). As of January 3, the ITC's preliminary 2012 HTS only reflects correct information for the AC generators.

(See ITT's Online Archives 11122708 for detailed summary of the Committee for Statistical Annotation of Tariff Schedule's (484(f) Committee) changes to the HTS that take effect on January 1, 2012. Note that other HTS changes will take effect in early February 2012 due to the World Customs Organization's recommendations. See ITT's Online Archives 11123001 for recent summary.)

Tariff Number for Light Amber Honey Changed Due to Schedule B Conflict

In the ITC's list of statistical changes, tariff number 0409.00.0062 was discontinued and transferred to new 0409.00.0055, in order to renumber the breakout for light amber honey (necessitated by a new breakout for certified organic natural honey). However, due to a conflict with Schedule B, tariff number 0409.00.0055 is changed to 0409.00.0056. This change is not currently reflected in the preliminary version of the 2012 HTS, but may be corrected soon.

Reporting Quantity for New AC Generator Breakouts Corrected to "No."

In its text of the 484(f) Committee changes, the ITC incorrectly listed the quantity reporting requirement as "X" for new breakouts 8501.64.0021 and 8501.64.0025 (transferred from discontinued 8501.64.0020) for certain AC generators (alternators) for wind-powered generating sets. The ITC states the correct reporting quantity for both is "No." (number). The preliminary version of the 2012 HTS correctly lists the quantity reporting requirement for these new breakouts.
