CBP Posts GIFs on Trade Access to DIS Info & Images via ACE

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted two Great Idea Form (GIFs) on requests from the trade community for access to (i) Document Image System (DIS) information in ACE Reports and (ii) images submitted electronically to CBP through DIS via the ACE Portal. According to the GIFs, providing these enhancements to the trade will allow importers to view and review documents in near real-time, communicate with the Participating Government Agency (PGA) in nearly the same view, resolve matters expeditiously, and review and discuss trends that will ultimately lead to fewer trade disruptions.

Request for DIS Information in ACE Reports

The trade community would like to have access to DIS information in ACE Reports. Access to the information could be through the DIS Portal and a report housed within the DIS Portal or through the ACE Portal using the current reporting tool. If access is through the ACE Portal, DIS data elements should be added to any applicable entry summary extract.

The data elements which should be available to the trade community to add to any ACE entry summary report include: (1) the DIS Indicator, (2) Image Type, and (3) Image Status as well as any Internal Document Number that might be assigned to the image.

If a new report is created in DIS then additional data elements will be required to identify the (i) importer of record, (ii) entry number, (iii) date range, (iv) etc.

If images are transmitted in response to a cargo entry request (certifying from an ACE entry summary), trade is requesting access to that data as well. If the report exists in DIS then there should be a link for the user from the report to the image.

Request for DIS Images via the ACE Portal

The trade community would like to access images submitted electronically to CBP through the Document Image System. The ACE Portal should provide the option for viewing DIS data and the image itself either through the ACE Portal or by linking from the ACE Portal to the DIS Portal.

Trade is requesting the ability to search for an image stored in DIS by (1) entry number, (2) internal document number (assuming one is assigned) and by (3) image type within a specified date range.

Visibility should be available to all parties associated with the filing of the entry or entry summary.
