IPPC Partners with APHIS, Etc. for Spanish Language Pest Risk Training for Latin Region
The International Plant Protection Convention announced on January 5, 2012, that it has partnered with the Inter-American Development Bank, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) to develop and present a comprehensive training program on pest risk assessment in the Spanish language. This first of its kind program addresses an urgent need for training in pest risk analysis in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

New Partnership to Ensure Market Access for Exported Ag Products
IPPC states that this project will directly benefit participating countries by enhancing their capacity to safeguard domestic agriculture, ensure market access for their export products, and provide greater food security for the Latin American and Caribbean region. The collaborative effort involves online training, classroom instruction, and an in-depth hands-on program that will provide participants the opportunity to complete a pest risk assessment for a specific commodity of interest.
