Schedule B Available in HTML and PDF Formats

The 2012 Schedule B is available on the Census Web site in either HTML or PDF formats (under the "Browse" section).

(Schedule B, “Statistical Classification of Domestic and Foreign Commodities Exported from the U.S.”, is the official schedule of commodity classifications to be used by shippers in reporting export shipments from the U.S. and in compiling the official statistics on exports of merchandise from the U.S.)

2012 AES Import and Export Concordance also Available

Also available on Census’ Web site are the 2012 Automated Export System (AES) import and export concordances. (The AES Import Concordance lists all current HTS numbers that can be reported for export purposes. It is updated periodically to reflect changes to the HTS and excludes HTS numbers that are not valid for AES. The AES Export Concordance lists all current Schedule B numbers (for exports).)

List of 2012 Schedule B Revisions also Available

Census has also posted a list of 2012 Schedule B revisions. This list consists of a table of obsolete Schedule B numbers and the Schedule B numbers which replace them effective January 2012. The table lists the obsolete Schedule B number, the new Schedule B number, the description and the unit of quantity.

Census notes that the “obsolete to new” table is not an official Census publication and only represents the Foreign Trade Division’s opinion of how the new classifications relate to those being deleted. It is not reviewed by any other agency and is intended to be used only as a guide for trade data users. For reporting purposes, Census suggests that filers refer to the actual export classification reporting manual (Schedule B) and related documents.

See future issue of ITT for summary on the HTS numbers that are not valid for use in AES as of January 1, 2012.

(See ITT’s Online Archives 12011125 for summary of Census’ announcement that the 2012 Schedule B and HTS Tables and Codes for AES are available for downloading.

See ITT’s Online Archives 12010101 for summary of Census’ announcement that Schedule B had been updated for 2012 and that the AES mainframe would be updated January 4, 2012.
